Dr. Eugene “Gene” Saltzberg, MD, has established a longstanding career in emergency medicine. With credentials from the American Board of Emergency Medicine and the National Board of Physicians and Surgeons and board certification in emergency medicine, Dr. Eugene Saltzberg, MD, has contributed to the field since its recognition as a specialty. He has held fellowships with the American College of Emergency Physicians and the American Academy of Emergency Medicine, which he co-founded in 1995.

In addition, Dr. Saltzberg serves as an educator, having taught at Northwestern University and now at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine & Science, where he is an associate clinical professor in emergency medicine. His work includes mentoring students, serving on academic committees, and contributing to groups on emergency and wilderness medicine. As an academic mentor, he supports students pursuing careers in emergency medicine and has published articles on ethics and public health in journals like the Journal of Emergency Medicine.

Moreover, Dr. Saltzberg volunteers as medical director for Lambs Farm, a residential center for adults with disabilities. His hospital affiliations have included service at Condell Medical Center, where he held leadership roles, including chief of staff, and he is currently an emeritus staff member at Northwestern Memorial Lake Forest Hospital.
